It's ironic that in a match involving Milwall, the trouble was started by the other fans.
I use the word 'fans' very lightly; because if they actually were fans they might prefer watching their own team play rather than having a fight. The closest I've ever been to crowd trouble was after Bristol City vs. Ajax in pre-season, where a mini-wave of City 'fans' were making their way towards the Dutch fans' police escort (presumably to wish them a safe journey home; thereby showing that Bristol can host World Cup football as we're all so well-behaved). That was scary enough!
These idiots have stepped back a few decades to the glory days, when English teams were banned from continental competitions and we were condemned for hooliganism. I'm sure everybody misses that.
A special mention has to go to the stewards, many of whom were women. On a night when a man was stabbed, they showed great bravery in trying to contain the crowd. Okay, so they didn't succeed, but the point still stands!
On another note, BRING BACK STYVAR!
