My original 'Team' was very much a case of seeing & wanting. Nabbed a Ralts after Wally caught one; saw a Sableye and thought "cool"; etc.
The Luvdisc replaced a Relicanth that had previously been my Water Pokémon.
There was a Lairon at some point but it was abandoned at level 40...I seem to remember a Tropius as well.
Cradily and Flygon were useless, but it was too much hassle to train anything else up!
There was also a Ninjask at some point, but it was ditched early on.
I caught a Lunatone, but stopped using it because I already had a Psychic-type.

This team was based on the Sapphire one: Psychic, Ghost, Flying, Water, Grass, Dragon.
The first three are there simply because I like them and was delighted to find them; I caught Shellos because I liked the look of it; Torterra was my starter; and how could I possibly miss out on Garchomp?
There was a Kricketune at some point, but it was ditched early on.
An Onix stayed with me up until I found a Gible, then it timeshared the sixth slot before finally being ditched after Victory Road.

Now how about that? This was actually traded over from Diamond after much selective, Crufts-style breeding. I think I actually went insane looking for that Feebas. I then went insaner traipsing round Amity square with a Psyduck looking for a Pamtre Berry; only to then discover that you could get it in Sapphire by talking to the Berry Master's Wife! Harrumph!
